TRU Taekwondo was founded in January 2011 by Jon Niehuus and his family, with the help of Master Adrian Hitch, 8th Dan Kukkiwon Grand Master. TRU Taekwondo was founded with the hope of being able to pass on the skills, abilities and awareness they have gained over the 16 years they have been involved in this Martial Art.

TRU Taekwondo teaches a style of Taekwondo based on Chung Do Kwan philosophy, using both the hands and feet for self-defence and fitness. The name Chung Do Kwan means “The school of the Blue Wave”, and was inspired by the strong and unstoppable nature of the ocean waves and is centred on the mastery of the basics, strong and precise techniques, as well as manner and etiquette.

TRU Taekwondo offers a friendly affordable club where young people or families can get fit, have fun and develop self-esteem and confidence while gaining skills and knowledge in the art of self-defence. The club offers the opportunity for students to train for personal fitness as well as the opportunity to compete at State, Interstate, National and International levels. Our Instructors believe that both the Traditional, and Sport sides of Taekwondo, have their place, and hope to instil this understanding into students that come to TRU Taekwondo. Our Club is located at Unit 4, 77 Greenwith Road, Golden Grove.

All our Instructors hold Coaching Accreditation through Australian Taekwondo, have Police checks through DCIS, are First Aid qualified and have participated in both Sparing and Poomsae (patterns) competitions at State, National and International level.

We are part of Australian Taekwondo, South Australian division, which means our students have the opportunity if they choose, to take part in the ATSA State Training and Development program, for both Poomsae and Sparing, State competitions and the National competition, held every year in different states around Australia.

The first two lessons are free, with no obligation. There are no lock-in contracts, ever, and we have casual lesson payment options, monthly, or even yearly for individuals, as well as families. We are registered to accept the Sport Vouchers through the Office for Recreation and Sport.

So come and try something that will give you and your children, skills and friendships that will stay with them for life. All you need to do is to wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle and have a go! Feel free to bring along any friends or family, as the club is open to everyone from 4 years old.
